Tulsi wood, which is in the family of basil, is the mostsacred of all wood in the Hindu tradition. It is worshipped in Indian templesas a living goddess. One Hindu legend relates that Vishnu spawned Tulsi fromthe turbulent seas in order to help all mankind.

The oil ofthe leaves is capable of destroying bacteria and insects. The leaves havemercury traces and are hence nowadays used in cancer curing Ayurvedicmedicines. The juice of the leaves cures bronchitis and stomach upsets. Theleaves paste cure all skin diseases and the decoction of the leaves curescommon cold, as per the ancient vedic texts. Tulsi rosary is also said to curea person from high fever, diseases of mind and from the ailment caused bydisorder of the wind within the system.
