Rudraksha is a Sanskrit compound consisting of the nameRudra ('Shiva') and aksha ('eye'). Rudraksha grows inthe area from the Gangetic Plain in foothills of the Himalayas to South-EastAsia and Indonesia. Around 70% of the Rudraksha trees are found in Indonesia,25% in Nepal and 5% in India Rudraksha seeds are covered by an outer shell ofblue color when fully ripe, and for this reason are also known as blueberrybeads. Rudraksha beads are botanically known as Elaeocarpus Ganitrus Roxb.
Rudraksha beads have long historical values in Hindu religion. Different mukhiRudraksha represent different Gods such as Lord Surya, Hanuman, Vishnu, Brahma,Durga, Kartikaya and of course Lord Shiva himself. One who wears Rudraksha getblessings of all of them. Rudraksha beads never give negative energies andthere is no harm in wearing them.
