In Masters Gallery card game you take on the dual roles of art critic and gallery owner with the goal of making a profit at both. The cards in Masters Gallery are based on 30 of the world's finest paintings by Vincent Van Gogh Jan Vermeer Edgar Degas Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Players take turns laying a Masterpiece card from their hands onto the table. Various symbols on played cards dictate individual or group actions such as playing an additional card face-up or face-down or even simultaneous play by all players.
At the end of each round (there are four) players calculate the total value of their displayed cards; more Masterpieces by a particular artist boosts the value of each of his paintings. The game ends after the fourth round and the player with the highest score wins.
Please note that Masters Gallery created by Reiner Knizia uses the same game play as Modern Art: the Card Game.
