Mag Pai ZaiStoryteller, dynamic guitar player, timeless-voiced singer, acclaimed songwriter--Declan O"Rourke is all of these things and more. While his songs have touched a wide range of performers, tastemakers and lucky fans over the past decade, this new album is the first chance for US listeners to experience the power and soul of this performer. ""Mag Pai Zai"" [pronounced as ""Magpie"s Eye""] is O"Rourke"s first US release, and his first for his own Rimecoat Records (distributed in North America via Missing Piece Records). O"Rourke released two previous albums in the Uk and Europe: 2004"s ""Since Kyabram"" (V2 Records) and 2007"s ""Big Bad Beautiful World"" (N4 Records). He chose to pursue the independent path for ""Mag Pai Zai,"" to take full creative control over his writing, production, and release plans. O"Rourke has performed with artists including Teddy Thompson, The Cardigans, Snow Patrol, Paulo Nutini, Badly Drawn Boy, and Paul Weller. His emotional songs and direct performance style have lead the way, with the song ""Galileo"" drawing praise by Paul Weller as ""the song of the past 20 years he wished he"d written,"" and appearing on a Weller-curated Q Magazine sampler CD. The song has been covered by Scottish songstress Eddie Reader, as well as by Josh Groban on his 2010 Rick Rubin-produced album ""Illuminations."" The US version of the album includes two new bonus tracks, including an intimate recording of ""Gallileo"" with a string quartet, recorded live during O"Rourke"s 8 night residency at the Irish Arts Center in Spring 2013.
